6" Sluggo Spreader Bars Anyone know where I can pick up a spreader bar with 6" sluggos? I see the 9" bars all over the place, but I don't ever see any with 6" baits. One or two of these bars may be the best way to hit these fish that are on the tinkers. Only reason that I can think of that I don't see them is that the smaller baits won't function with the spreader bar itself. If anyone here is making their own bars, have you ever tried the smaller baits? |

Just change out the baits yourself. They are screwed in. |

I am pretty sure that Hogy makes them with 7' baits. |

I've only tried them once on another guys boat with no luck and won't buy any. They tangle pretty easy and a pia to setup compared to regular bars. |

They are more effective slow trolled and bumped rather than the typical 4 knot troll. Bluefish do huge damage to them also which is a downside. |

Some consensus amongst the charter captains I talk to is that the sluggo bars are useless. The only action you get is on the trailing sluggo. The middle sluggos do nothing. I fished with the maker of one of the most popular variants of the sluggo last year and he only fishes singles. He slow trolls them at like 1 knot. We had 3 hookups on pink. It helps to have really high outriggers too, so it dances on the surface. |
