I guess bigger is better.

Another problem with lighter tackle is casting distance. I was fishing in early April here in CT and I had my schoolie rod and the fish were about 30 yards past were I could cast. The guys I was fishing with had heavier ourfits and were able to get out where you needed to be.

I never left heavy tackle... :D
but it is all relative, to me a 1201M w/ a VS250 w/ 20lb back country and 20lb or 1213 w/ a newell and 30lb mono is heavy tackle... never got into 65lb braid and such...
