Cool!

i still have some

but not nearly as much as i should
and here's why...

we were camping out west on a long cross country trip

and i collected a whole huge back pack full of it ok

it took me all day walking in the mountain chapparell to find it.

i intended to bring it all back east...each piece carefully selected for

making sculptures, carvings whatever...

i had no intention of burning even a single piece.

you look for the right size everything , ya know...

so later that evening ....i see this huge blazing fire
at our campsite with everyone sitting around it
enjoying the amazingly hot fire roasting marshmello's
and drinking beers...cooking .... whatever...

i go into the tent to get something and i notice the backpack
laying there completely empty.... :conf:

i went outside and asked my wife....where in the hell is
all my sculpture wood with daggers in my eyes
and she points to the fire .....right in there!

well i was mad enough to commit murder...
so mad i could not even speak...then i'm very dangerous!!!
and just totally walked away to avoid the carnage
and i'm still pissed off
just thinkin about it....

to this day... unfreakin believable.

and ya know what :point: it gets even better...

late that night around 2:30 am
we get awakened by our frantic friend

as it turns out the winds have picked up
and the fire has been spread all over the place
and we are about to burn down all of southern california

talk about a panic zone situation...running around digging
dirt as fast as you can by flashlight ...smothering a fire here
another one starts there...oh my god what a nightmare.:hs:

but theres no way you could put it on a lathe and turn it...

the dark stripes are from previous fires

Wow Raven, that is sweet, and that story is classic!
got any pics of some carvings?

Raven 04-09-2008 04:57 PM

nahhh Sorry

the wife burned up all the wood LOL

that piece in the picture
the photo i just took of it
doesn't do it justice

is going to be a custom handle on
one of my all glass green house doors

because vertically it has the pefect grip
and the door is extremely heavy

I don't care if you copy it, hell, it is a pikie that everyone copies and also took a cue from Mike Fixter and Winch as to what we really need to use on the West Coast, then added the flair on the tail. My reason for that was I like my pikies tail to stay on the surface and by adding a little more wood (flotation device) on the back to keep the tail up.
Does it work any different? nope, just something I do to make it mine :D

Nice Plug, I think the hooks are to close and will hook each other
I would move the front one back 1/2 inch and lose the 2nd treble

I like the shape and the natural finish

very, very nice:kewl:

Actually, the hooks do not touch each other. I normally do not put two belly hooks on my lugs but just figured I would go old school Creek Chub style on this one.

Thanks for the compliments all!

Tom
