paint question

New to plug building and just got in a few blanks for NJ Tackle. Was wondering if someone could explain the painting process. Do plugs need to be sealed first before the finish paint goes on? What What is the best paint to use AND what kind of clear coat is best? Sorry Im asking so many questions...kinda makes me feel stupid, but like I said Im new to this.

A short answer to yor question is:
seal the plug first.
paint with spray cans or airbrush.
clear coat with epoxy.

That being said , if you do a search on this forum under each of the steps you will find all the information you will need.

Have fun, and post your plugs when they're finished.

Look forward to seeing them. :)

I seal with a 50/50 mix of Helsman's Urethane/ Mineral spirits.
Prime with BIN red Lable spray can prime
sand smooth between coats then paint then clear with Envirotex-lite epoxy. I wait a day between steps, minimum. I let the epoxy cure for 3 days.
