plug balancing

In another thread started by Diggin Jiggin, several approaches toward finding the center of balance are suggested: balancing on a pencil and balancing on the cutting edge of a hack saw blade. Here's a third method I thought of early this morning: just tie a simple overhand knot in a small rubber band and slip one of the loops over the plug. It's surprisingly sensitive to location. Here I show it on a Danny Jr. Troller copy I'm working on. Without added lead, the balance point is right at the top of the front flat slope. Interesting...

Interesting.....but trolling dannys are weighted ahead of the balance point......I think.

I'm sure that you're right about the weighting position - I was only trying to suggest an alternative balancing approach - the rubber band as compared with the blade edge or pencil side...:)

I'll give it a try. I've been using the hacksaw method. Always game for a new way.Niffty idea
