Your buddies don't know .. Ya get way more than you give here.. I'm still learning ,, still getting tips .. pms ,,phone calls. You'll need help with something down the line.. keep some secrets to yourself . A squid though ? basicly a chair leg with a big eye .. unless its a Norris .. we have authoritys on those too . Making fortunes in the plug world is pretty much a pipe dream . Alot of good competition .

luds 01-13-2007 09:39 PM

got ego:uhoh:

smitty919 01-13-2007 09:59 PM

i have some that look just like it.

lol

ChiefLinesider 01-13-2007 10:23 PM

No its not about ego at all, This is my first time plug building, and I was advised by people that are close to me that I was crazy to post up my ideas for everyone to see.

I was with all of you when it came to sharing ideas, don't hold it against me, didnt mean any disrespect towards the way things are done when it comes to plug building. Was real proud of my designs, put alot of work into them. The not caring part will come. Im sure I will get a reality check, but for now just let me run with my delusions of grandeur.

Thumb-Burner 01-13-2007 10:46 PM

with all due respect

if everyone here had that attitude i'da never lernt a thing..:as:

ChiefLinesider 01-13-2007 11:00 PM

its my first time around, so chances are Im not going to have anything to offer that hasnt been said somewhere before

smitty919 01-13-2007 11:49 PM

The Dad Fisherman 01-14-2007 12:07 AM

Methinks your buddies may be :smokin: a little too much and its made them a little :hidin:

Probably the most enjoyable part of makin your own, other than catching on them, is sharing them with the rest of the crew.

Great bunch here with a HUGE wealth of knowledge to share.....

Do some damage control - that's not cool! If its something you are making for yourself and friends then keep it quiet - I respect that greatly. Something you want feedback on - then post a pic. Don't pretend you have something great and pretend to post a picture and create hype. You won't make any friends that way. I'll say once more - if it's cool and you want to keep it to yourself - more power to you. Frankly I love the idea that there are certain plugs out there that quietly find a niche. But don't do what you are doing. Retract - post a pic - doesn't matter to me. But don't say you have the keys to the castle - and then tell everyone that you really don't want show them.

No, I did have it up for a few hours. Some people checked them out, Bigfishon even has some that look just like them apparently. So im not trying to create hype.

I was looking for feedback, but then I talked to some people and they talked me out of putting some pictures up. THEN i took the pics down, I cant delete the thread, so I just deleted the pictures.

First I saw a Norris squid faithfully reproduced by Capesams. Then I saw a Norris Needle made by Steelhead ( I hope the name is right). Then I tried mine about 2 years ago. My point is, there's nothing new under the Sun, or New Moon for that matter.

Backbeach Jake 01-14-2007 07:38 AM

Lab1 is right, if there's something extra special you're doing, keep it to yourself. But this hobby of plug building has taken quantum leaps because, for the most part we, share. Which is the purpose of this forum. On another note, if you're copied, then you are influenceing the hobby and sport. You are being noticed and respected. What's better than that?

no big deal if you changed your mind, you are entitled.

if you want me to remove the thread, I can. just let me know.

I think everyone understands each other now at this point.

If those were your first plugs you should be proud. If you think you will get rich off them you should have your head examined. If you think you will be happy to know someone will catch fish on them, give a few to me :D

gone fishin 01-14-2007 10:48 AM

I think you should think for yourself!! Forget what your "friend" has said about posting your goodies and learn from some real plugbuilders on this site. If you are afraid of criticisim and think you have a better mousetrap, you should not talk about it. Just my 2cents.:spidey: :

Karl F 01-14-2007 10:55 AM

I saw them.. they looked nice.. can relate to the chair leg Tagger.. got a couple of old maple chairs that had 4 each of them plugs on 'em ;)

Honestly, nice plugs, nice paint, were they special.. NO.. sorry, but that's an honest opinion. Glad your friends think so. Good Luck.

thefishingfreak 01-14-2007 11:03 AM

let me guess.:rolleyes:
they look like a squid?
there's a wire running thru it?
there's a grommet?
possibly a hook or two?
maybe two eyes on oposite sides of each other?
could be painted?
i bet it's got some kind of clearcoat on it?
you fish it?

am i close?

GattaFish 01-14-2007 11:34 AM

I would make sure I posted it so everyone knew that I did it FIRST.

It would be a bigger shame if some guy you did not know saw it when you were fishing it and then the next week he posted it as his own.

So show it and be proud of it.

Besides... I showed my devo heads

Just one thought. I love checking out plugs guys on here make. It's half the fun of all this. But to think you can copy the plugs just by looking at them is far from the truth. There's much more to a plug than the shape and paintjob. The real art is the weighting, hook placement, size to weight ratio, plug balance, etc.

I have made plenty of plugs that look good, but come in like a stick.

Anyway, I did get to see your plug and it looked great. I was going to comment but didnt have time at the moment. Your doing an excellent job and you should be proud.

justplugit 01-14-2007 01:12 PM

i think TFF's signature says it all, especially when it comes to sharing. :)
