between the legs, under the arm or in the gut

in my 21 years in the surf with my uncle, I have noticed many different ways to set back on a fish. Wondering what ways you guys like. I have always been a guy that likes the butt of my rod in my gut (shorter from the handle to the butt) Just curious?

I use 10' rods most of the time, with the reel anywhere from 21" to 25" up the butt.
Between the legs is the only way it works for me ;) |

 In the gut

I like a short butt section and the butt in the gut. I started building my own rods just to get the right fit for a given blank.

between the legs. There was one summer where I had many bruises on my gut which prompted me to switch.

10' rod, I rest the but on the top of my thigh.

 Thigh guy here!:laugha:

Makes a difference to me how you are fishing. If I'm hanging by my nads on a rock I can't put the butt under them.If I'm up to my waist or deeper it's under the pit.On the sand gentleman fishing it's easiest to put the butt in the sweet spot.

I thought this was a dirty fight tip thread:shocked: Depends which rod that I'm using. My heavy surf rods are crotch rods, my light ones, bombers, sluggos, etc. lay along my forearm or in my belly.

 10' and under,along the forearm(underneath)in the pit.
10'-12' 'tween the legs. Both to the upper thigh for the fight! |

Under my arm with the reel upside down, reeling backwards.

Depends where I am fishing and how big the fish is..but ..mostly in the pocket of my hip...
