Threw a couple little lures together out of plastic. Take a look:

Looks good. Is that acrylic. I have thought about that when someone last year mentioned that they make them out of acrylic. Also thought of Delrin too. I made some out of PVC but they weighed a ton. P.

Yes it is acrylic. Takes some work but looks very good, I'm using it to make a lot of tuna rigs now

what are you using to 'buff' out the scratches from turning ??

Most times you can bring it back to clear with a low flame. Just heat the surface to meld it all back to clear.... :wave:

Low flame works perfect. We machine a lot of stuff that has to be optically clear and that is how we do it. We use a certain gas but am not sure of the type. Paul

i've 'flamed ' acrylic' before , used solvents , buffed with red compound , just wondering if there was anything new ......been years since i messed with the stuff :wave: hi bill , ya still want the mahagony ?? let me know how ya want it cut up ....i forgot :huh: derf |

Flaming does help but it has to be very quick and cool. Can't use high heat on the extruded stuff. but on the cast stuff it takes heat better. The red is too corse for acrylic, the white is best for finish. here are some samples of the tuna lures I'm making with it:
