I just heard on the radio that casino will not be on the ballot thanks to our governor. The house overwhelming voted to have it put on the ballot overiding the governor. Now he takes it to court saying it is unconstitional? Makes no sense you can gamble at Lincoln Greyhound and Newport Grand? I was all for it, would bring a lot of money and jobs to a hurting RI economy.

Me too, would have saved me an hour off my drive to CT:-)

gotta love the politics. I think that the new govener got his arms twisted by lincoln park. Garrenteed if the folks of ri could vote it would pass.

You can blame the Democrats in the house and senate who pushed this bill, They should have done their homework and known that there was a good chance that the bill was unconsitituional. It would have been easy enough for them to have reworded it so it would have passed muster. Now the Tribe is talking about trying to get federal law changed. Good luck, I don't think it'll happen. IMHO the tribe would be better off getting a constitutional bill passed in the next legislature and getting it on the ballot. Of course they would have to renegotiate the whole deal with harrah's.
