Rookie question?

I have been drilling the through hole in the wood blank before turning the lure. Is better to do it before or after?

i drill before turning, that way you turning is centered on the holes you have drilled. also if the drill after turning if the bit runs out the side of the plug you just wasted your time.

yeah, thats the way I figured it. "Fish in Vt" check your P.M.

It can be done either way, whatever makes you more comforable. When I did them on the drill press, I did the hole first for the reason that lifish stated. Doing them on the lathe, I'll do the hole after turning. Seems to be more acurate and I have not had the problem of the drill bit going through the side. In either case, drill from both ends and meet in the middle.

I drill after the plug is turned for the thru wire. I drill for weight and swivel holes before turning.
