Soaring interest rates, increases in credit card debt at higher rates, silicon valley giants announcing layoffs, god knows what’s going to happen to energy prices this winter, god knows what’s going to happen to housing prices with soaring mortgages of inventory ever increases,,yiu habe to think these interest rates are going to stifle consumer spending at some point, and that’s what drives our economy.

It’s not all bidens fault, Trump and Obama and Bush spent like lunatics. We’re due for a recession.

i didn’t hear anyone suggest we won’t survive. But some pain is probably coming. also some opportunity.

inflation is global. but (1) that doesn’t mean we didn’t make stupid
mistakes in both parties, to make it worse than it needed to be. And (2) covid was also global and you never once brought that up when trump was potus. How about a speck of honesty.

the feds out way, way too much money in circulation. Increasing the supply of something will decrease the value of that something. Even if that something is money.

they love responding to things that no one came close to saying. it’s easier than admitting politically inconvenient truths.

How does one do this if the majority are in 401k’s? Just curious

i’m in the same boat. Luckily I transferred 90% of my 401(k) from stock-based mutual funds, into cash/money market stuff. sometime after the recession hits, i’ll start moving it back into mutual funds that invest heavily in good stocks, like large-cap mutual funds. or an S&P500 index fund, many 401ks offer something like that. Assuming the market rebounds ( it always has after every downturn in history), i’ll earn a nice return.

its not as good as being able to buy individual stocks, but IN MY OPINION ONLY, a smart strategy with 401k funds. Market dips are buying opportunities if you have the cash, and only if you believe the market will eventually bounce back.

need to make sure you have a few years to leave it there, in case it takes that long to bounce back. Not a good idea to try this with money you know you’ll need soon!
