Going Rate for Tooth Fairy?

Tynan just called me all excited to tell me he lost his first tooth. So what is a reasonable offering from the good fairy. $1 sound right?

BigFish 11-16-2009 07:05 PM

Give the kid a fin?? First tooth? Finster! Cash though....no checks, no money orders and no Paypal!

5/0 11-16-2009 07:07 PM

My kids are ought of that stage now but I think we paid up to $2.

luds 11-16-2009 07:09 PM

BigFish 11-16-2009 07:09 PM

My kids are happy with a buck....

They were getting the clad gold colored coins for a while..

Backbeach Jake 11-16-2009 08:03 PM

I like Nebe's idea. I remember getting those as a kid, something special about those 2 dollar bills. Out of the ordinary..Helps mark the event in your memory.

tynan19 11-16-2009 08:09 PM

Raven 11-17-2009 06:52 AM

Backbeach Jake 11-17-2009 07:46 AM

Tooth Fairy Funny

When my daughter was losing teeth, I told her how to get double cash. One night put a white bead in the tooth bag, the next the real tooth. Slip the Fairy a slug.
The first morning she came running downstairs yelling "It Worked, Dad it worked!!"

Then in a couple of minutes my wife was yelling something completely different... Never got to the second night....

Raven 11-17-2009 08:03 AM

as we were growing up

each of us kids questioned
whether there really was a tooth FAIRY

well............

In my eldest brother's room was this odd door and at the top
was a set of very small footprints going to the top
about ye BIG |___|

and the story went... that long ago the tooth fairy accidentally
stepped into the ink well when LANDING and these are the tracks to prove it

and of course after the explanation of what an ink well was....

we bought it HOOK, LINE, and Sinker :uhuh:

:grins:

GattaFish 11-17-2009 09:33 AM

ProfessorM 11-17-2009 12:00 PM

5 bucks in my house.

PRBuzz 11-17-2009 12:03 PM

What's the going rate for a gold crowned tooth? If high enough bid I've got the pliers ready to pull.

stcroixman 11-17-2009 07:20 PM

1$ is fine. Kids are spoiled today.

Saltheart 11-17-2009 11:56 PM

I have no answere for you but its a real cool thing to have to think about. :)

In my day it was a coin and a quarter was considered real good! Most often it was a dime that could be slipped into a little slit in the corner of the envelope and the tooth removed from the same little slit right along the fold. That way the kid will think it must be magic if he seals it in an envelope himeslef before going to sleep. next day , tooth gone , money there in the same unopened envelope. :)

nightfighter 11-18-2009 06:00 AM

Spoiled my son as his first three teeth had to be extracted in one sitting. Those commanded a premium, three new dollar coins a piece! But the day was more memorable for the both of us as we then went to Castle Rock and caught half a dozen fish on chunks! This was before S-B.com, and he was talking about that day (the fishing) just this summer!

All I can think of when I here 1 buck is the McDonald's commercial

What can I get for a buck , And the cab driver replies out!!!!!!!!

tynan19 11-18-2009 06:54 PM

I didn't have change and couldn't find my $2 bills. So he got a 5. I got jumped on at 7 am with a big missing tooth smile. It was well worth it!

PRBuzz 11-18-2009 07:01 PM

OK here's the FAQs: Facts about Baby Teeth

Let's see: $5/tooth and 20 baby teeth = $100
Big missing tooth smile: PRICELESS

That's what I always used for my twin boys. They just got done with braces, that took 9600 gold coins.
