Oil Burner Service Price?

Anyone have their oil fired furnace serviced lately?? Curious what the going rate for a full cleanout and filter change is running???? Guy I booked sounds a bit high??? I have my license but do not have the necessary cleanout kit to do it myself? Any idea what I can expect to pay??

we pay $199. a year for the plan, includes yearly clean out.... we have had a lot of stuff replaced for free that would have exceeded that if you include the yearly clean out. Worth the peace of mind as well.

Likely depends upon whether you are freelancing or get from same company you get oil?

I'm the later and paid $175 (Mass Energy subscriber)

whats in a clean out kit? more than 199?
you could by a brandy new shop vac for that.

9 years ago a cleanout kit cost about $500. Rather have someone else deal with it Craig! I do the usual filter, nozzle changes and stuff.....cleanout every few years!

Frank do you have a service contract with them?? Buy oil from them??

We pay $189.00 per year for a yearly contract (Booma Oil in Lynn), which includes an annual cleaning. The guy told me they bill out at $85.00 per hour and he was here for an hour, so I'm paying $104 for the peace of mind that they will come at all hours if I need them. Pretty cheap insurance to me.

Larry - North Shore guy charges me $225 for the full boat. His charge is $125 for just a cleanout. I bought it and am alreday ahead of the pricing, He changed two 007 circulaters under the policy. He won't touch my pellet stove though.

Yes I buy my oil from them. They give me 10% off the total gallons if I pay within five days of delivery. Their techs are very good.

I paid $2.49 a gal. the other day when one of the guys at work thought paying $2.69 a gal. was a good deal. No service contract, they just know I bvuy all my oil from them and that is enough.

I pay 165 from the same company that sells the oil to me. It goes up every year, it used to be a lot cheaper.

worth it to have it done at least once a year, preferably in the off season (spring through early fall).

there's a lot of sludge in #2 heating oil to start with, and it just builds up in the tank, where it mingles with moisture and bacterial digestion. there are fuel additives that can thin it out, but it all builds up on the nozzles and filters.

cheaper to have a preventative cleaning than an emergent service call in the dead of winter at 2 a.m. the latter might cost a you a bit.
