Just delete it. Pure garbage.

Scam. These are similar to the ones I got when I was selling my car over the net. I would get replies from people in Europe or Africa saying they wanted to buy my car, and would send a check for cost PLUS 5K, and they ask that you send the 5K back to them. Well the check is a fake, and you cash it, then send them the 5K, they never pick up the car, and you get bagged for passing bad checks. So they make 5 grande off poor suckers. It was on 20/20 or something last Fall or the beginning of the winter.

schoolie monster 05-11-2004 12:52 PM

Katie, at some point in the process they will need a few thousand or a few hundred bucks to complete some paperwork or to release the funds from the bank. Or they may need your bank account and ss# to complete the transfer.

It is a common scam.

Their are some good websites out there that track all the scams and urban legends (such as, Bill Gates has agreed to give everyone who sends this email $1000 for each person they send it to or Disney is giving away free trips to everyone who passes on this message).

But as was said, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Not sure if this might be offensive to anyone, but I thought it was funny as hell.

Here is some good old American folk giving those Nigerian scammers a run for there money. They make the scammers do all sorts of crazy stuff in order to verify there identity and such.

When I checked this site out last time, I almost wet myself:)

Again, this site might be offensive to some, but it is so funny I must share:)

S-Journey 05-12-2004 07:56 PM

Sorry, one more thing....

If you are someone that could posibly be offened----
DONT CLICK ON THE LINK:)

Katie 05-15-2004 07:50 PM

thats wicked funny...lol...where did you find that??? lol..

NilsC-- heres the thing that gives it away.. when does a bank ever really ask for a updated info?? I have never heard of it? and why would they e-mail ya instead of askin you when you went to the bank?? lol..

NilsC 05-17-2004 11:26 AM

Katie,
I see it all here at work. We get all kinds of scams every day. Including viruses the claim to be updates to the virus definitions from symantec and McAffe.

Email with claims that everything from phone to your car will be shut of or impounded unless you pay them some amount they claim you owe them.

I have received a invoice for items the sender claims I bought but did not pay for. :D

lotsa fun stuff on the net.

Nils
