Guide placement help

Getting ready to build a couple of 7' schoolie rods with the grndkids and having trouble with the guide spacing,,, (translated: haven't a clue what I'm doing LOL)
Brought a small penn battle into the great guys at CMS alonG with the blank, they set me up with 6 guides and a tip,,, plus the dims for placement. Following their layout specs and placing the seat 9" up from the butt end (the 9 was my bright idea) I'm left with 26" from the spool to first guide,,, 36mm OD,,,,
This seems like too long a distance, but like I said, I don't have a clue!!!
Should I move the seat up? Space the guides out a bit? Add a guide? Sub it out? :devil2:

Any help would be appreciated, I hate snow

Here's my 7' schoolie rod dimentions: #18mm reel seat 7.5" butt to reelseat , 3000 abu spin reel spool fully extended 22" from stripper guide, folllowing guides from stripper guide: 15", 12" 9", 7.25" & (6" with tip installed). All single foot guides sizes: 30, 16, 12,10, 8. Hope this aids as guide for your rod. Have fun w/the Gkids.

Thought I'd try a little rod set up in my cad program,,, interesting but not a heck of a lot of help.
Drew a cone from spool to tip top and placed the guides I have using the ID.... sounded good in theory but stops there LOL

I set the rod up complete with reel and guides and ran a line down through on the wrapper,, by eye looks to be a very effective way to fly,,,
Check out the PDF,,, LOL,, IF anyone's interested,, dah :uhuh:

Gup, you can also add a 20 between the 30 & 16 if you have a soft tip which will add an extra guide toward tip.

Yes, I'll take a look at that also, beginning to get a handle on this, would be nice if reel manuf. and guide people made CAD available,,, or at least measurements
Beers are on me :)

Worse comes to worst go to a shop and find a similar rod and measure the guide spacing to use a startin point. You want to chuckle go to a high end rod shop that has stock rods and then someplace that has all levels and see how mNY RODS HAVE ALMOST THE SAME SPACINGS ON THem. You'll laugh.
