I'm not a metalurgist, but the housing is a thicker gauge and appears to be less corrosive then the newer.

The quality of the metal looks identical, bronze main gear, stainless steel pinion and shaft. Those are the key internals. The crosswind block and antireverse ratchet are either brass or bronze, and the antireverse dog is stainless.

The sideplate is made of steel on the Greenie and not plastic like the newer Penn.

I get alot of compliments when I fish with the Greenies.

Sorry about that bit I am not an expert on spinning reels. All of my combos are convench and the only reason I need one is for windy days.

Anyone want to school me on the reels of choice? I like the VS but can get more bang for the buck by not buying one.
