Town of Hopedale has the right idea!!!

Just saw this on the news!
They have had enough of the geese and them schitting everywhere!
They hired 5 hunters to shoot all of them !!!
Some other towns need to take notes and hire the same hunters to start shooting the seals, plovers, dog fish ect......

scoobe 09-12-2006 09:30 PM

I thought they were a protected species?

Skitterpop 09-12-2006 09:34 PM

Right up the street from the shop Ron. If ANY one of them stoopid peta morons wants to complain the only thing I would say is for them to come up and step in the goose %$%$%$%$ themselves. There's so much that's it's really disgusting.

UserRemoved1 09-13-2006 04:38 AM

Coyote Decoys

Our d.p.w. bought two from Cabelas and they worked so good the soccer and midget football people bought some more. Now we just have to chase the idiots away from them that think they shouldn't be there.

I had a buddy of mine several years ago, and he probably still does this, gather up five of his friends several mornings in a row on his golf course and blast away. He did give them a fair start. Shot of a firecracker to get them in the air. He has very little problem now.

Brother Brian 09-13-2006 01:17 PM

Me and my buddy came up with a foolproof plan. Here's how it works; The state (fill in your choice) captures, kills and cleans every one of these things in sight using prison labor. Then all the state/town parks near the shore reduce the price of admission to zero. The catch being that when the people leave, they have to take a dressed out bird with them. We estimated that based on the volume of only two state parks (in CT), the population of CG would be under control in about six months or less :hihi:

It is legal to hunt geese (in season of course)

My question is this....why would they HIRE people to hunt them when all they needed to do was to offer the place to hunt and I am sure they would plenty volenteers????

I have heard of golf courses allowing this themselves to help clear up their growing problem.......

Raven 09-13-2006 07:31 PM

some towns

allows no hunting period....

geese are a menace....

they need to shoot-em all

good for them

Uncle Matt 09-13-2006 07:34 PM

Hiring someone creates a defined contract. I am sure there are certain times, prearranged rules and circumstances as well. Plus, if they are "specialists" or "professional" hunters, if that us all possible, they are probably a good shot and maybe even insured against property loss or personal injury. Remember, some areas of Hopedale must be populated. Plus the fact they HIRED hunters creates almost a "doing the right thing" approach. You know, for the good of the community crap yada yada yada. As compared to printing in the newspapers, we opened the town of Hopedale up for every one toothed, drunken, laid off, camo wearing hunter. You'd have gun tooting hillbillies everywhere shooting everything that moved. (Legal disclaimer: No offense to those who fit those catagories like myself).
