Tubes at night

I am a rookie when it comes to night fishing. Im sure this question has come and gone many times but here it is, T&W at night, am I wasting my time, would drifting eels be a better choice ? :smash:

Personally I prefer fishing eels because I am not that big a fan of trolling but you wouldn’t be wasting your time fishing tube and worm at night. I have done it and know a lot of guys who do it successfully on a regular basis. Trolling can be a tricky way to start out night fishing though especially if you’re new to navigating at night.

I am a boat fisherman but I T&W at nite all the time. Black would be my preference unless you want to try black. Try and keep the tube up in the water column in the nite, more so than you would in daylight.

Thanks for the insight. Everything I hear says eels are the most productive method for night fishing. I will be spending most of my time inside of Cape Cod bay outside the east end of the canal. I know there is no "best method" Im just looking for a starting point.

those are the waters I ply this time of year and both those methods have been working in the Bay so you can't miss with either, or both. I've had better luck with eels 2 hours after it gets light and the tubes at dark and especially daybreak. Lots of dogfish looking for those eels so expect to lose some. Have fun.

Impossible in Narragansett Bay. Just too much lobster junk. I would be snagging lines constantly at night
