We all know things could be worse. Well, those of us who were alive circa 2001-2009. Actually, most of those policies are still in effect, so maybe that is what the person who made the shirt means. I know, stop blaming Bushie. The only things that happened under his watch were the whole housing thing that is still holding down the economy, wall street collapse ( I think that is better now?), tax policies still in effect, tarp, and so on. Maybe the concern is that health care thing that the CBO says will reduce the deficit (unless it is ended by the repubs, which would add $167 billion to the debt). Cute shirt though :jump1:

OK, so for the entire period of Bush's 2 terms, things were worse than they are now?

Really?

Zimmy, how about we examine a few facts...

Unemployment...

Where can I find the unemployment rate for previous years?

At the start of 2007, unemployment was 4.6%. Today it's at 8.2%.

Zimmy, do you know what happened in January 2007? A new Congress was sworn in. A Democratic Congress that replaces the Republican congress.

I hear Obama talk about the mess he inherited. From whom? Yes, his presidential predecessor was a Republican. But in our system of government, the legislative branch sets the legislative agenda, not the executive branch. And from 2001-2006, when the GOP controlled the legislature, the economy was thriving. To be honest, the economy started thriving under the Clinton/Gingrich era, but it continued to thrive until the Democrats took over Congress.

Now Zimmy...please tell us, if it was all Bush;s fault, what Bush did to cause the subprime mortgage crisis?

He did that all by himself?

Barney Frank had nothing to do with it? The feds pushing banks to give $400,000 mortgages to poor people had nothing to do with it?

In 2007, what the Democrats inherited was a robust, thriving economy.

Again...which party was "watching" Congress? Why, oh why, are you ignoring that Zimmy?

Can we be honest about 2 seconds? We have serious problems...can we talk honestly about solutions for two seconds?

not everything can be broken down to "liberal is good, conservative is bad". If it was that simple, why are so many New Englanders leaving for better opportunity in Texas, Georgia, North Carolins, etc?

Yes yes...

CBO: Obamacare levies $1 trillion in new taxes | WashingtonExaminer.com

Accrding to the same CBO that you cite, Obamacare will only reduce the debt, because of the more than $1 trillion new taxes it includes. Can't imagine why any conservatives would be opposed to that...

Zimmy, you keep picking and choosing which relevent facts you include, we'll keep filling in the gaps.

Typical of a pos Moon bat, blame the guy before him.
Did you ever hear Bush blame the guy before him for that little thing on 9-11 that was all put into place on Clinton's watch ?
Maybe if Clinton wasn't so weak on national security & our borders instead of sticking Cuban cigars up the private parts of interns 9-11 would never have happened ?

Ya, the poor guy only had 2 years of majority in the House and Senate.
Wonder why the people voted them out of the House and came close
in the Senate in 2010 ?

Simple - racism...

As Spence would say, everyone who votes Republican walks around with a white hood on, looking for a place to burn a cross or two...

Obama is pretty moderate! After all, Geithner is his guy!

Why would he blame Clinton? He gave him all the intelligence they had, including that a planned attack was imminent. Good point, though. Typical of repubes to be tough guys and pretend it isn't ok to talk about the reality of the situation. I understand the repubs didn't like Bush and the mess he made, but it is pretty ridiculous for them to whine if the president frames the debate around what was happening when he took the job and what is happening now. Fits right in with the party of freedom fries.

zimmy 07-30-2012 09:47 PM

here is another reason it is valid to bring up Bush and the past:

MCCONNELL: The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.

McConnell added, “Our single biggest political goal is to give our nominee for president the maximum opportunity to be successful.

So it was Bush's economy when he came in and the Senate Minority leader says the above just a year later. It is the economy that decides elections. So it looks like Mitch did a good job with his single biggest political goal.
