BigFish Plug Shop Project
Worked on the new shop today......got my new windows in place and new studs along that side of the garage...and a new door! T & G going on all around...I can close up that side tomorrow! :kewl:
looking good larry!
Sorry...reversed order on those photos.....you may note the height of the windows....that is the side I plan on having my lathe bench on and I got them high because I like my bench high so I don't have to stoop to turn.....I like lots of light so those will help! :bounce:
Looks good... More plugs for me and slingah i guess. :laugha:
Looooking gooood Larry.... :humpty:
looks like a plug shop to me....
well done Bigfish..... i see your having a blast. :claps:
nice .
lemmie know when the heats working, so i can come play. |
Those windows are awesome Larry. :kewl: They should give you more light than skylights.
Although, ya could always open the skylights so ya wouldn't bump ur head. :D |
lookin Good -- where is the chiminy fer da wood stove?? :claps:
Leave the side open, when the wind's at 45kts during a good nor'easter you would have to worry about dust collection :laughs:
-spence |
Larry - you like your bench high so you don't have to stoop? I'm guessing benchtops are about 8' off the ground then?
Are those windows fixed or do they open? Just curious.
The windows are fixed Bob...being over my lathe bench they are just for light....opening them would only blow dust around when turning. Other windows will open for ventilation.
Gonefishintalk....wood stove is going on the other side complete with a brick hearth....this will be a real showplace when I finish...and functional! Lab1 and JPI.....ya killin me with the tall jokes! :laughs: |
 Pissa Plug plant!

they call it art....
VB...come over and see the inside of the house...you think I would be able to work on the garage (from time to time) without doing the house? :kewl:
Nice cave BF!
Where?
is the commercial grade 6-burner stove going that someone is going to be cooking marinara sauce on, or corn beef brisket for all of us during the wood turning open house sessions? Even more impotently is how big a fridge for the beer is there going to be? Don't tell me outside around back. Where are the girls from Hooters going to change from thier street clothes to those cute little outfits, in front of us? That would be O.K. with me, but they might object. What about the stadium seating I heard about? I thought you picked up used seats from the Randolph cinema.
hey larry?
did you build that shed from scratch? i was looking at the sheds at home depot and wondering if i'd be better of just building from scratch. |
No Mike just refurbing what is already there with new exterior...studs where needed, windows and such to make it brighter inside....other than the roof basically the entire thing will be new by the time I am done! Inside will be insulated, finished with a wood stove and lots of room to work and as Afterhours said...maybe a pickle barrel with a checker board to play on for when compny' comes a callin'! :hihi:
Great cave Larry ,, need a TV and a small fridge ,, Definately a "woman in waders" calender. :hihi:
sweet Larry don't forget the java pot :kewl:
Just need trim and primer.....
Trim the windows...fascia board...gutter...prime and move onto back side next!
Inside.... :bgi:
looking good larry!

 Larry sometime this winter I want to stop by and try and make a few plugs of my own. I have turned a ton of bodies in woodshop at school, but I could never quite get the thru-wiring and weighting down. If you don't mind it would be awesome if you could show me some the ropes someday. Maybe I will drag slingah along with me. It will be a marshfield invasion on your cave....

"K"!

Those multiple windows seem like they will restrict the view to the outdoors along with collecting saw dust on the sills of each individual window pane.
Vinyl replacement windows are maintenance free and easier to clean. Lots of happiness on your BF plug factory and your new home. |
I don't do anything without thinking about it...and then thinking about it some more. I have a certain look I was going for in my shop....so it has some visual character and also some function.....those windows do not open....don't need or want them to because the dust will be blown everywhere so I put fixed sash's in....other windows will open but those two I did not want them to....I like lots of panes as it has more personality and a kind of "dated" look. They also offer lots of light in that area....I could have gone with some insulated, vinyl windows but I am putting form ahead of function for the sake of enjoyment....I also could have gone with vinyl siding instead of painting but then that would be boring to look at in my mind. I am just trying to create as I go to make something unique, fun and functional as best I can. Interior walls could be a quick inexpensive plywood or rock but due to the fact that the shop will be heated part time by a wood stove, and pretty damp in the winter when not heated I thought rock would be a mistake.....rough sawn pine perhaps installed vertically might be nice...more work but alot nicer. As for dust? There is going to be dust no matter what I do with the window sills.
put a effin' exaust fan in there somewhear.
out the wall? out the roof? |
->
besides.......larry's 41 now.... has more personality and a kind of "dated" look.
big f____N *grin....:wavey: |
Very nice Larry.
Satisfying doing it yourself the way YOU want...Isn't it? Enjoy. :humpty: Dave |
