I finally went under the 200 pound mark and I am currently down to 184. On the BMI charts because I am 5'9" they say I need to be 165 not to be considered overweight so I still have 20 pounds to go.
I started following Dr. Berg on YouTube who talks about the science of the body and food intake which was amazingly educational to me. I never knew how IMPORTANT it is not to have a fatty liver and I was unaware of all the freaking bad chemicals I was putting into my body (where the heck is the FDA). He says it's not about losing weight to get healthy, it's about getting healthy to lose weight. I was doing the intermittent fasting but really didn't start to lose weight until I also combined healthy Keto cutting out the sugars/carbs to less than 30 grams a day.
Gonna start high intensity interval training to lose this last 20, I'll keep you posted. Check out Dr. Berg on YouTube, just sharing because it helped me, wishing you guys the best and stay safe out there.

My diet after this winter was no IPA’s, bud light and a glass of wine, between that and getting back on the golf course walking three times a week, I went from 205 to 178.

Guppy 08-20-2022 02:31 PM

I broke 200 from 212 …. Not a lot but getting there ..
Tough time of year not to eat bad stuff…
Trying for 3 days a week at the gym are helping ….

Being boatless for close to 2 months didn’t help much… more time to eat…

Thanks for the Dr Berg thingy, I’ll take a look..

jredfly 08-20-2022 11:52 PM

That's awesome for both you guys!
Hey, all we can do is keep trying.
Really trying to make this a change of life instead of a diet.
You are right though it is tough this time of year, at first I though I could have cheat days but it throws you out of ketosis, so you not only gain a couple of pounds but it can take up to a week of dieting before you start burning fat again, totally sucks.

piemma 08-21-2022 02:07 AM

Went on no bread, no pasta and no wine on Jan 7 2021. Down 63 # after one year and still maintaining. 193.

Hookedagain 08-21-2022 07:06 AM

I switched Doctors earlier this year. I knew I could shed a few pounds but working two full-time jobs and being active at both jobs I felt I was fine. I went through the pre visit with the nurse (weight, vital signs and such) and she said the Dr. will be right in. Moments later the door opens, in he walks typing on a laptop in his other arm....with out missing a beat, glances up at me and says....we're going to loose some weight this year, right? Holy chit Doc.....don't hold back! I was expecting a "Hi I'm Dr. campbell, pleased to meet you". I'm a new patient, never met before. Anyway we put a plan together and in just under 5 months I went from 232 to 203 so far. He wants to see me at 190.
It can be tough to change the way we eat, especially when we have bad eating habits. I really didn't want to give up certain things but it was worth it in the long run.

jredfly 08-21-2022 08:21 AM

The bed-side manner of some of these doctors leave a lot to be desired.
I give them some slack if they are good at what they do.
Great job on the weight loss but it is hard.
When I think that I can never enjoy a nice pasta dinner in the North End that really sucks. I am hoping once I hit my goal weight I might be able to do that once every three months and keep an eye on it. I don't want to over do it though slipping into the dark side again like an addict. It's crazy how the body and mind can react to food and the chemicals they produce.

Hard isn't even the word. I'm Sicilian. No pasta, no bread no wine for 19 months.

19 months WOW!

That is incredible - I don't think I could do it but like I said if I feel like I can't handle a splurge day every few months I will go there. I've worked too hard for this and I'm not yo yo-ing again. This is not a diet it's a change of life. Its funny, with the intermittent fasting I am not hungry and I am not craving bread nor sweets, I feel great and I just want to keep it going.

BTW I am an honorary Pisan - I went to high school at Christopher Columbus High School in the North End :)

Honored to have you as a friend and, yes it is a life style change.

jredfly 02-02-2023 09:18 PM

Down to 171 pounds - another 10 pounds to go.
Trying to hit the gym 3 times per week, Aerobic and light dumbbells for about an hour
OMAD (One Meal A Day) with healthy Keto, under 20 grams of carbs a day. Save a lot of money eating just one meal a day too. It really wasn't that bad after doing intermittent fasting for a while.
Any one else having any luck?

Holding steady around 177, stopped drinking the first and would have probably dropped another five, except I’m still drinking non alcoholic beer to transition.

I have taken off 25 pounds of the 30-35 I put on during a three year recovery from knee replacement. My diet? Invisilign, clear aligners for your teeth! Seriously. Any time I want to eat or drink anything besides water or clear liquid, I have to take them out, and then brush teeth afterwards. So I guess you could say my laziness trumped my hunger urges. I see another ten coming off by spring.

Since 4 Dec I have dropped 35 pounds to 285 from 320. Now yeah I know that’s like the queen mary losing a deck chair but I am feeling much better. I want to get to 240. Realistically can’t see myself below that.
Intermittent fasting with 1 meal a day. It’s not that hard to do. Still eat most things I want and still have some Capt and Diet Coke watching the games on the weekend.
No calorie counting. The only rule is for 23 hours only water black coffee or black tea.
So will see where it goes from here.

Crap! I look at a carb and I gain 5 pounds - freaking sucks!!!
Went out for dinner Saturday night and had a little super bowl food but nothing crazy and boom 5 pounds - Crap! It goes off a lot slower than it comes on. I'll hit the gym hard this week and hopefully that'll help.

No alcohol since the first, drinking athletic brand non alcoholic IPA which aren’t bad, lots of exercise especially with the lack of snow, the only issue is all my pants are swimming on me. Down from a high of 205 last fall to 173, couple more lbs and I will be back to the weight I wrestled in senior year of high school. Bagged up all my 38 pants and a lot of the 36 waste, getting some new threads soon.

Congrats man. I'm still holding at 195 to 200.I have cheated a few times with Sicilian bread, a good cab and pasta but I'm back on the total keto routine. It does suck but I tolerate it because i feel so much better.

Just shy of 50 down with the OMAD
Started 4 Dec. from 321 to 271 The rate slowed a bit but pretty steady and I now find waiting for my one meal at dinner pretty easy. Yes you get a bit ravenous at that point but this seems to be working for me without ‘dieting’ per say

Had some carbs this weekend and boom 5 pounds but I am all good. I really like OMAD and healthy keto but I am not going to be the carb police. I love the North End and I gotta hit Federal Hill soon! Everything in moderation - Enjoy Life - Take care and be healthy!
