The number is on the RI license in real small print so I wrote it on the back much larger before laminating it.

Well you made me laugh! It's been a long, tough day and I needed that.

Thank you nightfighter. I do have the MA # in my phone as well as local police.
It's all good.

Maxfish 04-26-2011 10:50 PM

The licenses have nothing to do with fishing, it has to do with identity checks.

piemma 01-05-2012 08:12 AM

I didn't. I had the federal license. Just decided to get the RI license and keep the money in the state.

JohnR 01-05-2012 08:35 AM

Federal license worked last year. This year I believe in RI you need the RI license which will be reciprocal in CT & Mass.

So NY, NJ, ME, & MD won't get fishing revenue from me.

Will Post this as a sticky - thanks!

Clammer 01-05-2012 08:49 AM

Got It & have it lamanated already .My luck I,d get checked up river by the only time DEM has ever been there .

If the law is unjust - and the preponderance of people believe it is - and it probably would not probably not hold up if challenged in Rhode Island Supreme Court, as it runs counter to our state's constitution, then why is it "sticky worth" to post the D.E.M. Enforcement numbers to rat people out for what could just as reasonably be designated as an act of civil disobedience?

A person fishing without a license three years ago was a recreational angler. Now all of a sudden they are poachers and thieves because the crooks that we pass off as a general assembly say so?
No.

Saltheart 03-25-2012 10:59 PM

The numbers are there for information purposes and have been there a long time. Whether people decide to use them or not, for whatever reason, is up to them.

Raven 03-26-2012 12:42 AM

\got both at the westborough fish and game
but they are white- printed right there
and the customer
"ID" number for both is the same

Nebe 03-26-2012 07:11 AM

7 dollars. The RI state constitution says the people shall "freely be able to fish"..
Bastards.

Raven 03-26-2012 07:31 AM

freely may be interpreted as in access
to walk freely to the ocean as apposed to cost tho

as i have never seen that term used for lack of cost
usually the -ly isn't added... but that's just my view
and i agree with you ....just the same

Offshore24 04-30-2012 06:48 PM

Here's the 2012 Maine reg.

Non-Maine residents, do you have a valid Maine freshwater fishing license? There is a check box on the freshwater application form for you to indicate you saltwater fish, check that box and you are good to go. If you are registered to engage in saltwater recreational fishing in another state, or with the National Registry, you are also good to go. If none of this applies, you may register by going to Saltwater Recreational Fishing Registry | Department of Marine Resources ($1.00), going to the DMR office, 2 Beech St., Hallowell, ME 04347 or by any appointed Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife agent ($2.00).

Furthermore, I read RI, CT, regs to read reciprocity exists with ME, MA and each other. MA says it has reciprocity agreements with CT, and RI, but doesn't list ME but that's as of 2011. Since ME now recognizes MA, I say it should be ok for Mainiacs to fish the southern states.

RI Fishing License

For what it's worth in Ct your fishing and or your hunting license can be suspended for about any infraction. I can see this happening in the near future to people fishing the brine. Once government figures out this potential new revenue stream they are missing out on; the short scup or pollock you're using for live bait may end up costing you a hefty fine and your license being suspended.

In CT it's even illegal to use fluke strips from yesterdays catch unless you have the carcass and then it would be added to the current days bag limit.

What the government giveth the governmnet taketh away unless od course it's welfare.

So i called the RI dem yesterday and they were on the spot within 5 minutes. I watched a guy take a few tog to his car in plastic bags. Also, the same guy was keeping some tog in a pool in the rocks. I did not see him put them in there but i was walking past a pool and found 2 12" tog in the pool. I asked him if they were his and he nodded in the negative. So i fished the cute little bastards out and threw them back, healthy as could be. I drove past the spot about 5 minutes after i called it in and the green cop was pulling in as the folks were packing up their car. Im 99% sure he nailed them, i didnt stick around to find out. THis is the second time i have called and they arrived. I am pretty impressed with the RI DEM, not so much with MA, they have been less than interested when i have called in violations.
