Why sell a barrel of oil for $50, when it is evident that you can sell it for $100+ and demand budges little. The only thing drilling in ANWR will do is put more $100+ priced barrels on the market. The Oligopoly is in full effect, and the lobbying firms are their tentacles.

$8 per barrel x god knows how many barrels per day PROFIT wasn't good enough. :tm:

And the only good thing about McCain taking office would be a damn hot 1st daughter. :hihi:

Exxon Mobil/BP have submitted plans for technical service contracts to increase production at super oil fields in Iraq.

Rockport24 05-29-2008 02:47 PM

oh, that's interesting, so this war is finally going to pay off then? :hihi:

With all the fighting between not only "insurgents" but the individual groups throughout the country WHEN do they propose to do this? :lurk:

yeah, you're right, then congress will ask them why the prices are still high even with this increased production in Iraq and they will say they are victims of the increased demand again :rollem:

Joe 05-31-2008 10:31 PM

Iraq is currently producing about 2 mil barrels a day. The biggest oil fields are in southern Iraq and the oil exports via the port city of Basra. Iran is a bigger threat to oil production and movement than the insurgents.

Exxon and BP now have a toehold in Iraq oil production via the TSC's as will other western companies and this will lead to expanding influence and control of Iraqi oil reserves. The pain of paying of $5 a gallon will lessen the backlash of public opinion with regard to the war being about oil. It will be ok with most people because reasonable people are more concerned about money than ideology.

South Dakota voters approved constuction of a new refinery to refine 400,000 barrels of Canada crude / day.
Will employ1800 people and 4000 consruction jobs.
First new refinery in US in 30 years. Will take 4 years to complete.

At least it's a long over due start.

I will say that there is about half the cars on the road as there usually is around me...its like summer never started. I see a booming summer tourisim season..... yeah right :hs:

RIROCKHOUND 06-08-2008 04:29 PM

Took a bike ride around my neighborhood in the Pier. Definetly less people around than I would have thought given the weather forecast!

Raced yesterday, counted 4 power boats in Quicks.
2 small CC's coming out of Menemsha.

Quiet day on the bay!

Cape rentals are doing very well. Kids are still in school, and people are cutting down their weekend excursions, but once they take their 1-2 week summer vacations, Scenic Highway will once again be a two-way parking lot every Saturday afternoon.

MotoXcowboy 06-09-2008 10:38 PM

yeah i paid $4.19 after work today. had a 10 bought a pack of smokes said put the change on pump 8. I didnt even get a gallon...:crying:
I remember in high school I could buy a pack of smokes for under 5bucks and gas wasnt even $2.00 a gal

on the ride home I started thinking...I'm never gonna be able to afford to enjoy the boat I just bought, to much gas $$$ :af:

I'll second that.

I know I haven't been out much due to time constraints, but a survey from the wall in Narragansett on both sat. and sun. afternoons revealed a lot fewer PWC's (thank god, hate those) and powerboats in general. I think alot of people are sitting at the dock and :gu:
