Went down the cellar this morn., surpose to be raking leaves but wife took daughter to piano lessons :bshake: , and whipped out a few. Used some beautiful old pine I have as that is what it seems they used. Second picture is the next project. Gibbs, thanks Peter. I already made a larger version of the gibbs trolling plug and now I will try this thinner one. I am kind of on a kick this year to make some larger trolling plugs. Seems to me that at least 90% or more of the plugs I see being produced by builders these days are for the casting crowd. Since I mostly boat fish and like to troll I am going to produce some plugs that I can drag behind the boat next year. I will make a conscious efffort to use these plugs and see what happens. Just don't seem to see these plugs any more, everything is plastics. I do not know anyone who fishes these large swimmers behind their boat anymore, I am sure people do but I don't know anyone. They caught many large fish in years gone by don't know why they wouldn't work nowadays. If anyone knows of any other larger trolling plugs to try I am interested. Paul

did some of those gibbs troller's a few winters back...NJ atom lip's are a very good match to those on the gibb's.

also doing up some of the same, but jointed now I know how they were weighted.

Hey Krispy,
That Medium Size M&M Goo goo Style(the smaller version of the Big Jake?) swims better than the original IMO, and now I know why you have that stash.:hee: I would not part with those if I were you.

Not to spam this thread, but Im going to drop the price on the Goo Goo eye lip to make it avail to more people.

Mugz 11-12-2006 08:56 AM

And I just bought some from you last week......:wall:
No biggie. :walk: Turned my first goo goo last week. I'll post a picture when it's done.

Krispy 11-12-2006 07:09 PM

Tman, I told ya, they're not the prettiest but catch like mad. All I have left is a lifetime supply, and thats all I need.
Let me know if you run out

For other large trolling plugs have you considered making some like blue streaks? I've attached a pic of some that I have. I actually don't know how well they swim, I have never dared to tie one on, but I have heard from some old timers that they were really great plugs to fish with.

Yes I have seen those .Look pretty much the same as a gg eyes except they have a round nose. What kind of lip you think? I know peter has tons. I am sure he will say.

Looks like an A-40 lip would work....

One for the experts.. how close is the A-40 to the Bluestreak, in action, weight, size, etc.?

RIROCKHOUND 11-15-2006 09:33 AM

Anyone made GooGoos out of Cedar? Thinking for the surf they would swim shallow on top?

I am making some out of AYC this week. Are you talking white or red instead. I would think any variety of wood would get you a surface swimmer. It is a big plug and plenty bouyant. P

RIROCKHOUND 11-15-2006 10:29 AM

AYC or Red
