wow

wow!!! i've been away for a day or so and this thread shows up.
Flap you have a truely magnificent obsession. if i counted all the lures i owned they wouldn't amount to half of yours and i've been buying lures everywhere i've gone for the last 20 years. you never know what a fish might never have seen before and think would be good to eat. congrats!!

Flaptail, you still have room for more ;) I could still make out a little bit of peg board behind one of those pictures. Looks like a lot of memories in those pictures enjoy my friend.

Fortunately for some, I wsh I had more money at the time, he sold most of it off and bought a house and property in Canada.
Original Danny, Musso, Creek Chub, Gibbs and on and on. Rare pieces , custom colors and weights. I almost fainted when I saw it all.

Thank You Flaptail as others have done I showed it to my wife and now she thinks I'm fairly normal at least.:hf1: :hf1:

dickmont 01-07-2006 07:09 PM

Flap, I sent a screen grab of your cave to my wife who is in India. I hope that when she sees it she'll understand and come home:crying: :scatter:

Spiderman 01-09-2006 09:17 AM

no entrance fee for me, I got low friends in high places. The collection in the shadow boxes was pretty cool too. He went top shelf all the way around, his vehicle, equipment, plugs and his drive. Its a shame he gave it up. I hope he writes a book.

winchmaster 01-09-2006 01:42 PM

Well if you got in free you must know "The shadow"

Backbeach Jake 01-09-2006 02:48 PM

The wife saw your plugs and asked if we're ALL like that....well, yeah, I guess we are.

Flaptail 01-09-2006 02:59 PM

Just imagine Fred, there are a whole lot of cellars out there, undiscovered, just like mine or worse. Think of all the old timers who have "gone down the beach in the sky". I just got a line on one through a family friend that I have been asked to look at and "see what I could use". There is a God!!!!

Wow! that could turn out REAL good. I've often wondered what was in all those old sheds and barns scattered about the Cape. About 5 years ago I just missed an old Harnell rod in perfect condition at a Church sale in Truro. :wall: 20 bucks! I coulda cried. Good luck! and happy hunting!!

capesams 01-09-2006 04:04 PM

I picked up a few harnell's in a pile in front of a house..sign said free...

I also know a guy who HAD hundereds of plug's till one day his wife got pissed, put them all in his duck boat along with everthing else fishing and burned the whole thing up in their driveway,,then there was this other guy who went to work one day,,and while he was away she had a big yardsale,,you guessed it,,all his fishing stuff....so keep your dearest close at all time's and woo the **** outta her.

That's scary.
I remember when I first moved to VT, 35 years ago. Waiting on the side of the road for someone when a truck cuts a car off, the car stops, the guy jumps out of the truck and yells at the woman "I don't care if you leave, but you ain't takin my deer rifle":eyes:

Backbeach Jake 01-09-2006 04:36 PM

  How much time are they servin'?

gone fishin 01-09-2006 11:45 PM

Flap - with that stash I would get the shakes just waiting for the fish to come back. :rotf3: :rotf3:

Steve, in a case like that, it should be legal to use lethal means of revenge. I would have snapped, no doubt about it.:whackin:

numbskull 12-20-2009 10:00 AM

Flap had loads of plugs, but it was his knowledge about them, the stories behind them, and his enthusiasm for them that made it all special....really special.

seeing those plugs and that thread made me think of this past february.
i know you guys were really close to him and i really didn't know him. but if you allow me, you could appreciate this. i attended my first plugfest last year (with the idea maybe i would take up the hobby)and wandered over to a wall and table near the corner of the room where a tall, friendly guy had a LOT of plugs on display. i didn't want to bother him with questions and stuff, but i didn't have to. without a prompt he started showing me eye popping stuff, the first Gibbs, the story on how he got it, where it would end up. a lot of his creations and others. he talked, i listened. the guy was straight up, a solid guy. that day i left knowing whatever i would ever make would never look like anything i saw that day, but the spark was there.

Vogt 12-20-2009 07:53 PM

good stuff Jeff.

Striperhound 12-22-2009 02:21 PM
