That shop is fine. This shop is on the corner of 138 and Central.
Well I went to see the manager again since she never called back. Guess what; she said the girls draw was short 41 cents  So apparently the manager never intended to call me back either. I informed her that I was going to write a letter to her corporate headquarters which didn't seem to faze her either. I asked her what ever happened to " The customer is always right" ? To which I got no response.

Of course her drawer was only off by that much, cuz she pocketed your $10.
Supplementing her income.

I Hate Dunkin' Donuts so much I get angry just thinking about that place! On Cape Cod, as with most places I am sure, they become so F'ing crowded in the mornings that the traffic on the road in front becomes impassible. Then it's 20 minutes of waiting to get a cup of lousy coffee with a side of attitude.

Screw that place, I gave up coffee completely. You'd be amazed how much stress that relieves.

Tips ???

I work PT at a DD for money to support my boat. The girls up front in this area of New Hampshire are forbidden to even take tips. I know down in Mass they put cups out on the counter marked tips. Maybe they get paid less. I think the folks that run the 7 DD's in this area start off the help at 6.50 an hour with raises at 6 months. Since I drive a little truck a couple hours I started at $7.50. Keeps Social Security from jumping on my arse about making too much money since I'm early SS.

Speaking of Social Security - they are going to be out of money quickly. I'm 63 but have 2 kids under 18. When I put in for SS, the kids automatically got $571.00 apiece each month until 18 or 24 if still going to school. I get $1161.00 a month so I guess they split about that amount. I never expected that but it's the rules of Sociald Security. Go Figure.

Yep , that ten was in her pocket before your car cleared the drive through!.

Answere is simple , they don't care about an individual customer anymore. They figure there's another one right behind you.

Doesn't get your ten back but know that someday that attitude will catch up to her on some deal she really cares about. It will cost her big and make up for the ten she took many times over.

Well there's the problem right there. The management. I go to a Wendy's in Acton. Workers are polite.. hell.. friendly even. 9 times out of 10 the order is ready as I drive up to the window and I've never had a problem with a screwed up order or change. I'd write dd corp headquarters and tell them about the treatment you got from the manager.

DD is not worth the money they charge for thier coffee.
I think its way over priced for the quat :uhuh: ly of it

fishaholic18 08-04-2005 10:00 AM

$2.11 for a medium cup of ice and a shot of coffee.

Bingo. I don't know how they ever got the rep for good coffee in the first place. It might be "good" as compared to a Greek diner (even tho most diners still charge less than a buck for a 12 oz to go), but it's no better than a lot of mini-mart coffee.

You can get a 24 oz at 7-11 for less than a buck and a half. Plus, it's self serve and you can smell the pot before you pour to make sure it's fresh and hasn't been sitting for hours. And the guy at the counter doesn't expect a tip ;)

HighTide 08-04-2005 01:42 PM

I pass a DD with a drivethru every morning and the line is all the way out into the street. I'm thinking "suckers".

Years ago , DD was pretty decent. the coffe was good , so they changed it. The muffins were good, so they changed them. I think they suck. I'll never go there again.

outfished 08-04-2005 02:06 PM

The new comer on the block is now Tim Horton's. Originally from Canada now owned my Wendy's I believe. A few years back Tim Hortons was found to be putting a drug into their coffee so to addict the drinkers. You'd drive by a Tim Hortens in the a.m before the doors opened and you would see lines of coffee "junkies" begging for the doors to open. :gu: :yak: :uhoh: They all $uck imo. Rather make my own and save some $$$.

seabass 08-05-2005 07:53 PM

You are all so lame! The girl probaly made an honest mistake, I'm sure she isn't in the coffee pouring field in hopes of making manager someday, and she most likely needs to cash out or pay the balance. Secondly, if you don't want to tip, don't, but if you tried parting with fiftey cents every now and then, you'd find the service you recieved would be much better and they'd probaly not screw up your change !!!! :fishslap:

Mac--sorry to do this, but when these things turn into a long-distance urination contest, I have to go back to edit the beginning even tho the first post normally wouldn't have offended.

Actually no. What you sound like to me is a 28 or 29 year old who had everything given to him by his parents. You seem to be the type who looks down on most with disdain and thinks the majority are inferior. You need to look at the whole picture. Sure what happened could have been an honest mistake on her part but I do doubt it. And the comment about tipping... Dunkin Donuts used to have a sign up on the menu NO TIPPING ALLOWED. And back then you could sit down and the girl would serve you coffee and a donut or whatever you liked. They key word here is (served) for this they were justified a TIP. But DD wouldn't allow it. You tell me why she is justified in getting a tip for pouring a cup of coffee that she is getting paid for pouring.

Thats very intersting , cause MANY people I know who go to DD's refer to it as their "liquid Crack" fix, jokingly of course, but i wonder if they are adding something to the coffee. Its pretty much common knowledge that Mc Donalds for example intentionally adds Sugar to EVERYTHING even their salads, which you would not suspect, but its true. And dont even try to figure out whats in chicken nuggets. IMO,these big corporations are slowly but deliberately poisoning us. Watch the documentary Supersize Me, you may NEVER go to a fast food restaurant again in your life.
If you travel anywhere else in the world even third world countries, the food tastes so completely different(better),it makes you wonder what is really going on here.
sorry to go slightly off topic

NIB 08-06-2005 07:59 PM

O thank heaven.
down here we got 7-11's open 24 hrs.like mike said i know what i'm gettin before its poured....An I know excactly what it costs.plus i would rather make my own coffe anyways.u ever see how they shovel the sugar in the cups foof fooof fooof three large scoops.who can drink that.an i don't know if its the creamer or the donuts but one of em gives me heartburn.Plus over 2 bucks for a large coffe is ridiculous..Starbucks = Puke I don't know who or how anyone drinks that crap.tried it twice an had to throw it away.both times.I think its the sheeple thing.Followin the hurd.
O thank heaven.
I never thought I would actually say that.

What is it with coffee shop employyee's in general? When did this job become a status job that required a holier than thou attitude? It seems that the more you pay for your coffee the more attitude you get (Starbucks).

Just for fun, try screwing around with them when they start asking your name so they can "personalize" your cup :D

They're shocked that anyone wouldn't want their name on a "Lottabucks".

They won't do it for just a plain old overpriced cuppa joe, tho. You have to order the double grande latte or whatever the hell they call the $4 thingamajig :hihi:

Raven 08-29-2005 07:11 PM

muffins @ dunkin dog-nuts

every time i go there and my dog is with me....

they try and give me a doughnut hole for my dog..
like thats healthy

but seriously twice now...both my wife and i have gotten ill from their
friggan muffins and think they must be using way to much bakers yeast or baking powder because we both get blown up from them and never will buy them ever again. Period.

as for coffee: i make taster's choice gourmet coffee in less than three minutes for about 25 cents per cup. the only time i buy DD's coffee is when i'm on the road and have no choice and would rather get their high test coffee than crash.

zacs 08-29-2005 08:56 PM

they offer my dog donut holes too, when I go through the drive through. WTF is with that??? Pisses me off. I tell them no and they look at me like I am abusing the dog. I do like the coffee, but I don't drink a ton of it because we just brew a big pot in the moring to save $$..

One time I went throught the d&d drive through and ordered a black coffee. when I pulled up to the window he told me they didnt have any!!!!! :uhoh:

SERIOUSLY........

capesams 08-29-2005 10:04 PM

even though d+d's may have fault's,,I can't say anything bad about them....they've given thousand's of dollar's to help fund deaf kid's in programing, show's etc...which my son got to use and see.

Bass Babe 08-30-2005 07:30 AM

I gotta give the Seabrook DD employees some props. One morning, their electricity went out and they were running on a generator -- no cash register with the easy buttons. There was only a slight backup at the drive thru, and one smart girl was actually tallying the orders with paper and a calculator! And they still had smiles on their faces and apologies on their lips for the "wait". Generally it's hit or miss, though, on accuracy and politeness with these places.

I had the same thing happen to me..he says "we're all out of coffee" WTF I thought "get the @#^ outa here!"

Redsoxticket 08-30-2005 09:56 AM

What urks me and happens all the time, I am sure it has happen to you is when they leave the coffee on their side of the counter near the edge, you pay for it and they don't have the courtesy to slide it to your side.
I said once, "well you going to give it to me".
Morons to the nth degree.

Couple of years ago I was taking my son to his football game, early on a Sunday, and I get, "We're out of donuts"

Apparently, the delivery was really late.

And no, they're not baked on-site any more, at least in these parts. " Baked Fresh every 4 hours, 24 hours a day" has gone the way of the do-do, it seems :rollem:

luds 08-31-2005 08:47 AM

Starbucks?

Simple fix. Go to Starbucks. Aside from all the pricey Lattes and Cappacino drinks you can still get a good regular cup of coffee at a reasonable price. They take the time to make sure you get exactly what you want and in my experience are always courteous.

"Gotta love the bucks." -Michael Scott (Regional Manager of Dunder/Mifflin Inc.)

Raven 09-06-2005 05:53 PM

unreasonable price you mean

all coffee is going up as a result of hurricane katrina because thats where it
arrives from south America...down south and the docks are destroyed.

the price of coffee is going to go... up UP UP ^

Nebe 09-06-2005 07:06 PM

on a side note- went to DND's the other night and watched a girl behind the counter ring up 3 customers.. each tiem she hit the no-sale button on the register and took their $$ and gave them back the right change- of course at the end of the night, you know that drawr is going to be a few hunded bucks over if she was doing that off and on all day :(

i hate thieves

Swimmer 09-11-2005 10:55 AM

Thieving DD employees

Nebe,
I have and old buddy who bought two DD's and then went bigtime for three more in Bristol county. First thing he did is put very high tech cameras over and around the register. Needless to say he turns over employees all the time. He never pays unemployment though because of the film he has availale to take to the hearings. Cameras keep his losses to a minimum. Their are many funny stories around about order snafus especially at the drive ups.

Getting back to the addictive qualities...

I've been drinking coffee since I was 14 (I'm 27 now) and if you were to give me decaf in the morning and I somehow didn't notice, I'd be nauseus and have a headache by noon.

There's no question caffiene is physically additive. It's probably psychologically addictive as well. The way we buy it and especially when you make your own it has the same ritual style use like most drugs.

RIROCKHOUND 09-12-2005 07:28 AM

They say (an article in Nat'l Geo) that caffine is a 2-4 day residence time in your system... so if you stop drinking it you feel like ass for a few days then get better.. I stopped 2 winters ago; I got the flu (and didnt drink any coffee for 2 days) then got on a plane and went to Key West; had 1 cup thw whole time I was there, came back and didnt drink any for months; till the season started again.....

Raven 09-12-2005 07:59 AM

agreed

here's a link to a site about coffee addiction and the negative

health problems associated with coffee drinking....

i was once taking gurana a south american herb

for a boost in the morning along with a cup of

coffee at home and a large dunkin doughnuts ice coffee

before i started work . Not knowing that gurana is so loaded with
caffiene ....i was totally over amping
...my brain was about to explode!
