I am sorry but guys come here looking for help, if people like onecastmike2003 come on here and try to make everyone feel bad about asking these questions this fishing board is useless

Bottom line is there is a time and place for every kind of plug made you just need to know the time and place to use them.

Danno1 I sent you a pm

You nailed a 47 pounder and you've only been at it a year? Way to go!

Like others have said Danno some great plugs available right here through site sponsers!

SWE for me is hands down best place to buy plugs.Worth a trip from CT.Pete is the man and I'm sure you'll find you want.I wish I lived in that shop. There's always good people in there that will give you priceless info on stuff you want to know .I think they have wood and metal from all the s-b sponsors in there!

Nice photo! :wiggle:

I agree on the above post. I would say the Saltwater Edge. They have a great selection and offer great advice on other items that might fit your budget and style as well as area fished. As for that Mike guy mentioned above you should be more concerned about not getting a 3/0 treble in the hand and get a tool to handle the fish you land and leave the new guy alone. :laugha:

Tools don't use tools. :rollem:

Thanks guys, feel like deleting this whole post for causing a big haggle :yak:
I think I should stick to chunking :hee:.

But after buying my first "professional"plug, I see why they cost what they do.
Since there is no rush at this time of the season, I`m buying 1 or 2 every couple weeks from the sponsers here

Don't let the internet's biggest ass clown get you down. YOU didn't cause the haggle.

hyefisherman2 11-29-2007 10:23 PM

m&d's has a nice selection of wooden plugs and so doesnt saltwater edge.

Slipknot 11-29-2007 11:04 PM

Nice catch there Gunpowder :btu:
Remind me to shake your hand if we ever meet.
I must have cast bombers on the beaches as many times as 4 ounce jigs in the ditch, best I have with the bomber was about 21 pounds. 47-3/4 pounds is a feat.

the rest of you guys need to just ignore the chest beating knat onecastmike and not take his bait, his bait is bad, stinky, rotten, old bait.
ignore the guy. I wish everyone on the site could just list him on their ignore list.

wader-dad 11-29-2007 11:11 PM

I will put in one vote for shopping with Joe Lyons of Surfasting Rhode Island- site sponsor and all around good guy.

I agree completely Bob. Maybe I'm just jaded but some of the fishing forums just seem to be a LOT less friendly and a whole lot more condescending if not vicious then they used to be.

It drives away new members and old ones...

Well now that I know what kind of a jerk and troublemaker this guy is i'll ignore him thanks for the info and the support.

Well it's about time...let the wars begin!!!

I like supporting locals so I check capt. Don's first. He stocks Afterhours and I use them a lot. Second choice would be buying direct from the maker's website if there is one and it's possible. The makers who are sponsors here make nice stuff and I can't see ever NEEDING any more than is offered by them in the way off better quality semi customs. SWE is a ride for me but it certainly is a nice store. Be warned that if you go there to meet someone to pick up a rod you bought in the classifieds and you get there early to look around and Steve McKenna is there all alone and you ask to see a few of those reels that everyone likes so much (VS) and he shows you several... you may be scraping around for several hundred $$$ in the next week or two.

None ruder than you RHM.
That fish is not even close to 46"/38#
You're not hoisting a 38# fish with a couple of fingers wrapped around the top of your plug.
Do us a favor. Buy a scale and learn how to use a tape measure. Oh, and leave your crap over at the other place.:mad:

Kierran 11-30-2007 07:55 AM

I thought this thread was about where to buy plugs? :conf:

I have to second these suggestions. Anyone passing through CT should stop by these two shops. Both are right off 95.

OCM - There is no flippin' way that fish is 38 pounds - no way, no chance. I think you need to dial up the truthi-meter and dial back the bully and attitude. Or you will be the first "voted off the island" this year

danno, support the sponsors here, great shops with guys that give awesome advice and they carry quality gear for however you fish.

Andy D 11-30-2007 08:32 AM

38#s? Where do you buy your scale. Or are you figureing approx. 10#s for every finger you have holding the plug. :hihi:
