Band of Brothers series is by far the best.

I agree, I've seen all the ones listed above but BoB is almost too real. The effects are amaizing. I got a new set up on the tv this year for surrond sound. I blasted a few epsodes and you found yourself d#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g from the bullets. The best part is, it is real. I get tears in my eyes whenever I watch it. The book is very, very good and elaborates on the story.

When I was a kid, the book Andersonville was in my Dad's closet, he told me that when I get older I need to read it. I received it in the mail when I was in my 20s. Most disturbing book I ever read. I still think about it. So, they made a movie about it? Never seen it.

band of brothers has to top the list.

saving private ryan is also a stirring film.

glory (matt broderick et al) is inspiring.

midway and tora...tora...tora! are perennial favorites. the bridge over the river kwai. merill's mauraders.

loved blacksheep squadron tv series.

a bridge too far, the longest day, the dirty dozen, the eagle has landed, force ten from navarone, the big red one - good WWII flicks made in the '70's.

patton gives me goose bumps.

i watch das boot over and over and over again. same with run silent, run deep.

who can forget the green berets? apocalypse now, full metal jacket, hamburger hill, they were soldiers (if you haven't seen this mel gibson flick run out and get it).

i lump bridges at toko-ri and blackhawk down together in the "depressing ending" category.

any movie where you see feudal japs killing each other. like "ran" or "kagemusha" (kurosawa is one of my favorite directors).

RIJIMMY 11-13-2006 10:42 AM

Ran is one of the best movies I ever saw.

HESH2 11-13-2006 11:22 AM

band of brothers best ever-bridges toki-ri william holden, mickey rooney great.patton, battlecry from 1950's and blackhawk down pretty close to the real things these rangers and delta guys went through.all in all politics dictate alot of what we do,think of going to war with us japan(toyota, electronics etc.)germany(mercedes, audi, etc)vietnam(clothing,et c) next thing you know we will be buying things from iraq after we get out of there.

So many great ones mentioned so far. How about one of my favorites, 12 O'Clock High. Robert Mitchum made a ton, Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo, Anzio, there was one other where's he's in the Navy and gets shipwrecked on a Japenese occupied island with a nun God Bless You Mister something or other. I always liked PT109. Can't leave out All Quiet on the Western Front and A Bridge Over the River Kwai. Then I guess you can't forget MASH, Catch-22, Dr Strangelove (just for Slim Pickens classic bronko ride on the bomb). You know there's too many to add them all.

Oops, found it, it was Heaven Knows Mister Allison, not God Bless You
