Ted Nugent I think it was 1978 at Boston garden. Between 1978 and 1985 I saw a bunch of Boston bands. I worked for a band as the sound man. Great time.

OK, I can take it, so I got a few miles on me, I may be one of the few here who remember Don Kirschner's Rock Concert, I can even take being called an old dude, but do me one big favor (remember, I'm old, I may forget between now and then). Don't forget the hat Saturday night.

I'm a rush head and seen a bunch, best one IMHO or due to my condition:), was the last fleet center aka garden show.

TheSpecialist 02-19-2004 11:02 PM

Best concert I have ever seen was Eagles, last year as a birthday present from my wife. Close your eyes and you would have sworn it was the cd, they sounded so good.
We also saw BonJovi/ Goo Goo Dolls tice. Second time was at the Razor, and Sheryl Crow was opening, can you say hottie.

Trivia for all u tubes fans, name the keyboardist, and what tv show did he play on???

Raider Ronnie 02-19-2004 11:24 PM

The Specialist,
I saw the Eagles last year also (fleet Center)
I was pretty dissapionted in that show!
I've seen the eagles 3 different times
1978, Great show but, that was in their partying days
1994, Hell freezes over tour, by far the best show!!!
Last year, Fleet center, No Don Felder on lead guitar:(
While Goe Walsh is a great guitarist and the life of the show, his playing dosn't compare to Don felder!!! and the sound of the band was nothing like their albums! Ron

They also looked pretty old (accept Glenn Frey) and tired half way through the show!

Okay, I've said it before, but:

1. Jimi Hendrix and the Experience, Rhode Island Auditorium, 1968.

2. Eric Clapton and Cream, ditto.

3. Carlos Santana, Woodstock.

4. Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company and yes, she really did keep a fifth of Southern Comfort behind the Marshalls. Newport Folk Festival, 1968....ummmm, maybe '69...I dunno, I've heard it said that if you remember the 60's you weren't really there.

5. Led Zeppelin, same year, same place.

6. Sly and the Family Stone, ditto.

7. The Great One I Missed: Third Row Box Seats (Seats 48, 49, 50 outta 100) for The Allman Brothers at the Newport Festival. The show was cancelled due to the riot.

Well, Sherman, how's that for a trip in the Wayback Machine?

Raider Ronnie 02-19-2004 11:38 PM

How could I forget this one?
The Tower Of Power
Not one of the most popular bands as far as songs in the charts,
But one of the most talented group of musicians ever!!!
Saw them about 10 times from the late 70s- 1990
One show they had Chester Thompson with them, he played most every instrument!

Crafty Angler 02-20-2004 12:34 AM

Oops, just remembered two more:

Saw some guy sing outdoors on the quad at Wheaton College on a sunny afternoon in 1968, had no idea who the hell he was  - there were like 300 coeds and me and one other guy there in the audience sitting on the grass. He just played by himself on a small platform with an accoustic guitar and only had one small Fender amp. Found out he had just released his first album on Apple Records titled "Sweet Baby James."

Needless to say, me and the other guy pretty much went largely unnoticed by the 300 panting coeds.

Saw all the Taylors, Kate, Livingston, Alex et al. minus James at a wedding my wife and I went to on the Vineyard in the mid-Eighties - they sang backup to Carly Simon, who sang the Everly Brothers' "Devoted to You" to the newlyweds at their reception. That really was pretty special - Carly even brushed right against me as she departed the stage and I smiled at her - and again, I went largely unnoticed.

Hey, wait a minute - what the hell, what am I, Claude Raines?

Awww, it's probably just as well - Mrs. Crafty woulda been pissed if Carly started hittin' on me. :laughs:

beachwalker 02-20-2004 07:08 AM

Dead - Cape Coliseum October 1979

Clash - same place- 8/82

U2 - Toads Place 12/80-

You said memorable right ?

Bliz 02-20-2004 09:53 AM

VB,

I used to catch the Fools at the cove quite a bit out in Worcester years ago...

My favorite concert was J.Geils at the Boston Garden during the Love Stinks Tour...

The energy was unbelievable for a Boston Garden concert event, and Peter Wolf went long into the night as the band stayed for hours...

Best show I have ever seen for the money, and the band was pumped up through the entire event...

It's always a blast catching local bands at concert events!

I saw Boston during a long run they were doing at the Centrum, (13 concerts there or something like that?...)and it was similar to seeing J.Geils at the garden...

for Boston to do so many nights and carry the intensity as they did was well worth the cost of the tickets...
